Felizarda Mocling Fallarme Fallaria has finally joined her Creator at the ripe old age of 101 years on May 29, 2010. She is currently lying in state at Arlington Chapels, Araneta Avenue, Quezonh city. Interment will on June 5, 2010, Saturday at 2 pm.
Lola Zarda, as she is fondly called, originally hailed from Pinamalayan, Mindoro but has embraced Sibale as her hometown when at seventeen years old, she married Leopoldo Fallarme, the incumbent Mayor of the island at that time. They were blessed with three children Ernesto Fallarme, Eufronio Fallarme and Ophelia Fallarme David as well as Lolo Poldo’s son from his first marriage, Laudelino Fallarme.
The unexpected early demise of Lolo Poldo left Lola Zarda a young woman with three children and a niece (Zenaida Mocling) to sustain, but Lola Zarda’s admirable resilience and resourcefulness as a merchant enabled her to provide them with a relatively happy and comfortable life. Lola Zarda later found a second chance at love and married Fausto Fallaria, the incumbent Mayor of Corcuera, Island of Simara at the time of their marriage. They were blessed with two children, Florita Fallaria and Augustin Fallaria. Fate took a second blow, however, when Lola Zarda was left a widow again. In all the challenges that came with being a single mother, Lola Zarda was able to provide for and instill values of resiliency and optimism in her children who all obtained college degrees; one became a lawyer.
Later in life, Lola Zarda enjoyed the fruits of her labor when it was her children’s turn to provide and care for her. She lived for a short while in Seattle, Washington, U.S.A. with her eldest surviving son and his family, but decided to spend her remaining years in her beloved Philippines. In her last moments, she was surrounded by her youngest daughter, as well has her “apos’ and great “apos,” some of whom were incidentally visiting from abroad, not knowing that it will be her last time on earth. At 101 years old, she was one of the oldest, if not the oldest former resident of Sibale to have lived. Lola Zarda will be lovingly remembered as a strong, resilient, calm, loving and nurturing person. She was also a wonderful cook.
We will forever miss you Lola
